When you told me Liz had passed, I said to my mother that - beyond the loss of your aunt - what would likely be equally painful for you would be the loss of the last tangible connection you had to your mom. I'm glad you have the image of her singing and jumping on couches, a beautiful gift given by your Aunt Liz. It pains me that you have to grieve this double loss, but I hope you found some comfort in sharing memories with your cousins and in finding the words to express so beautifully the experience of legacy and loss.

How lovely, Katie. It is peculiar to consider being the "elder generation" of one's family, isn't it? Aside from missing the aunts, uncles and parents who have left us behind, we have to think about how the "kids" are going to view us years hence.
